Time has come to assemble the drag link

Front suspension, it´s all in the details.

Well tonight I took care about some of the details. New bolts for the spring clamps and some red plastic dust hoods for the grease fittings. It´s all in the details.

Front suspension, test assembly

With a little help from my little coworker, we got the front NOS springs, new bushings and new pins test fitted today. It all went in without any major hitch. All the old slack disappeared completely. Cant wait to get this on the roads and feel the difference.

Front spring shackle, and pins adjustments

The front spring shackle and the pins, didn´t fit right away.

 I had to grind the flat surface of the pins down a bit to get them to fit correctly. Had to do it on all 4 connected to the shackle.

Front suspension, chassie bushing replacement

A pneumatic air hammer and a steel rod that fits the bushing and the old one is out in a few seconds.

The new bushings went in slowly just by using a plastic hammer, not to ding it. The last few mm I had to use the same steel rod as when I took the old one out.

NOS front leaf springs, TAAA-5310-A

I got hold of a pair of NOS front 8 leaf springs from Dennis Carpenter. The only difference I could find was that the part number was painted on the top side of main leaf on the NOS, instead of stamped on the underside of #7 leaf as for the original. However the original #7 is in good condition so I consider to makw a switch to keep the stamped partnumber and FoMoCo logo.
