Mounting of gastank

While I was working with the sound/Heat insulation I needed to mount the gas tank to see if I could fit 8 mm of foam, but it turned out to be to tight so behind the tank I needed to skip the second layer.
Above you see the aftermarket bolt from Midfifty (Exactly as original) the one to the left came with the truck and has been glas beaded and zinc coated. I believe I will use the new rubber grommet and go with the original bolts.

Some prep work before the marriage between Cab and frame.

The ceiling height is not the greates so I needed to remove the tires and drop the frame on the floor to get some play room for the assembly. Time to go and pick up some friends for the marriage.

Got the fenders mounted a couple of weeks ago. This is really fun!!

Got some friends over last night helping me out lifting the bed onto the frame. It´s moving in the right direction.

It´s back on its wheels!!!

So now all the brake parts are done and I could finally put on the wheels  and let the old lady feel some solid ground under that rubber after 1.5 years of temporary support. (just the brake line routing left).

Another milestone have passed

Got the final parts for the brake assembly, connecting pins.

I forgot to send some of the brake parts to the zinc plater earlier, so I had to send an extra shippment and wait for a few weeks. The other day it arrived. So time for some assembly.

Clutch and brake pedal assembly done!

Had some new washers made for the clutch pedal from stainless steel, The old ones where beyond rescue....

Some backround info:

This is a third member inc housing and axles I bought from an aftermarket supplier. The paint job on the housing was so poor that I had to take it appart to be able to mediablast the third member housing. I never took anything appart on the pinion assembly, just removed it from the carrier housing. I assembled the pinion to the housing using the same shims and sealer between lid/shim/housing. Then I adjusted the ring to pinion backlash to get the appropriate wear pattern. However the appropriate wear pattern gives me a backlash that is slightly outside the ring and pinion gear manufaturers specs. They say 0,007"-0,009". 

A nother source on the internet states: Aftermarket gears 0,007"-0,010" and OEM 0,010"-0,017".

So in other words. Is this good enough or is the 0,009" upper limit from the ring/pinion gear manufacturer a rock solid limit. 

I ended up at about 0,0098" with the wear pattern at the bottom of this page.. They can be compared to the wear pattern as it was delivered to me a few pictures above the end. Mine and as delivered is pretty close to each other

So is this good enough??

Switching out the poor quality nuts, with the help of a friend.

The nuts that hold the rear drive shafts in place was some really poor quality, you can read about it here.

Well I got some new one with much better quality. Our dear friend wanted to help me at the best of her abillity.

I was putting the rear brakes and brake shields in place with all new hardware supplied by the axle supplier.....I suppose they have poor harware quality...???
