Rear axle brake hoses

This is an old post that I never finished, so for the record, here it is.

 Left side, with a stock front wheel hose, in a stock hole in the frame over the rear axle, almost to good to be a coincident????

Got the final parts for the brake assembly, connecting pins.

I forgot to send some of the brake parts to the zinc plater earlier, so I had to send an extra shippment and wait for a few weeks. The other day it arrived. So time for some assembly.

Had some new washers made for the clutch pedal from stainless steel, The old ones where beyond rescue....

After some back and forth with wrong delivery of the rear wheel cylinders, the correct ones have finally arrived and it is now time for some painting before installation.

Rear brake hoses instead of brake lines??

I am trying to keep the apperence of the rear axle as clean as possible as this truck will have stock suspension and tires, so the rear axle will be visible from the rear. So the thaught struck me to use hoses between the stock rear single hose bracket and the cylinder and make a copy of the bracket on the opposite side. However when I took the front brake hose to the rear, there was already a hole in the frame rail similar to the hole for the front brake hose, so I just had to put everything together with the stock front brake hose. Like it was meant to be like this from the begining. Then my thaughts was to route the hard brake lines inside the frame to both sides.

I eye balled the hose with a loose wheel cylinder and everything seemed to fit, almost do good to be true.

I was planing on reusing the front wheel cylinders that was there when I took it appart. I cleaned them, lubricated them and put them together in a plastic bag, BUT now 1.5 year later when i took it out and planed to paint it there was some big rust stains on the inside, not pretty at all. So I decided to go fo a set of four new ones.

Putting some zinc base coat and heat resistant paint on the brake cylinders.

After 4 coats of base coat and top coat (each) on each cylinder it starts to look like this

CPP dual master cylinder, drum drum application, braket modification

Well on this page you can see the first mockup I made of the CPP dual master cylinder with bracket kit, that is suppose to be a bolt on kit. By all meaning it is a bolt on kit but with some drawbacks. First of all the centerline offset between the brake pedal and the cylinder is 35 mm (1.378") and CPP deals with this in a way that´s just doesn´t cut it for me safty wise. The bolt can bend.....period. The other thing is that CPP states that this kit will place the master cylinder reservoir just below the old cab floor hole......Well it doesn´t its 35 mm off!! that half the reservoir lid !!!. 

The modification I have done will join the brake pedal and cylinder centerline and also put the master cylinder reservoir lid right where CPP states it should be.

 Here I made some markings where I wanted the cuts to be made, 35 mm apart.

 Got some new part from the states, they are supposed to be "bolt on" but this kit is far from "bolt on". Maybe for the automatic trans application. But I am going with the stock clutch and manual transmission and then the offset of the CPP master cylinder and the brake pedal is about 30 mm. This results in an interference between the clutch linkage "hook" and the bolt for the master cylinder push rod

The solution I am probably going for, is to modify the stock part of the bracket assembly at witch the new bracket is attached to, cut this up and move attaching face 30 mm against the frame... well see if that will work?

Front axle tear down

The axle was pulled in a unit when disassemble the truck, and now the time has come to take it apart. I started by flipping it over and placing it upside down on top of the frame and clamped it, then it got easier to work with.
